Do I need to have public accounting experience to be licensed as a CPA?
I am from NJ and already sat for sections of the CPA exam. Just waiting on scores. IF I pass all sections, would my 3 year industry experience be sufficient enough to get me licensed? I have no public accounting experience as this is my first job after college. I am involved however in many financial accounting functions reporting directly under the controller.

Of course you do.
Most states accept 1-2 years of professional experience in industry, private, government, or academia – so long as you are supervised by a CPA, who will attest that your responsibilities and duties can be deemed to be equivalent to experience in a public accounting firm.
