Does it makes any difference to obtain a CPA license from California or New York?

I am not sure where will i stay (permanently) reside and get a job, but either New York or California. And i am about to pursue my CPA licensure. Is there any difference in obtaining the license at two different state? For example, if i get my license from CA will it be difficult for me to get a job in NY and vice versa? Please advice.

If I’m not mistaken, you have to obtain license in the state you want to practice your trade. These occupational licenses are not universal.
