cpa can mean a number of things. Look up what you are exactly looking for.
A degree in accounting is now a 5-year degree. This is due to the number of hours you must take of accounting, law, business, etc. Then you take a multi-day test and work under an existing CPA for at least a year before you become licensed and can work on your own.
4 to 5 year degree to be a Certified Public Accountant. You need to be good at math.
In most states, you need a bachelors degree with a minimum number of semester hours in accounting (around 24). That will be around 4 years. Then you need to study for the exam, which is around another 6 months to a year. I would say it is 5 years to become a CPA (Certified Public Accountant). Good luck!
