Is it required by law to have CPA in order to do accounting functions for others?
is there an exception or exemption for such case. I currently invested in an accounting company that runs via internet but don’t have a valid CPA license for their state. What can be the consequences?

If you invested and are not active in the business then you wouldn’t need to be a CPA
If you are active in the business being a CPA would help greatly in getting customers
but that’s not required by law – being a CPA or not being a CPA won’t keep you outta
jail if you get sued for non-professional service that you charge for and don’t deliver
quality professional service.
The ONLY function that is required to be done by a CPA is to sign-off on a financial audit opinion. THAT’S IT. As long as you are not doing that OR advertising yourself out as a CPA, there is no consequence.
