Generally during the busier season, you will probably be working 6 days a week and 12+ hour days. If you work for a Big 4, might be 7 days and 16+ hour days. Public accounting is not the industry to go into if work/life balance is important to you. It is a great career for someone who is single, but not if you have kids. The upside of the profession is the money. When I was in public, my average annual raise was about 12% per year. Now that I am out of public, my average raise is 3-4%. Public opens many more doors for you once you have about 5 years of experience. Basically you can work for any company in any industry at that point.
